explanation writing

Friday 18 march topic; Why houses have windows.

Have you ever considered why we have windows in a house? In this explanation, I will provide you with many reasons as to why a house has windows.

Windows are made for air  to come through the house and to make the house feel nice and cool on a hot bright day not only that but more things. Windows are  natural  to have in a house. On a hot bright day,  how would you feel if you had no windows but only a door to air out the house?

Windows add to the features and makes a house more attractive to look at  when you're driving pass. Even curtains are beautiful and elegant to have hanging on windows,It makes the house look more attractive from the inside and outside. Windows are amazing because when you are getting annoyed with your neighbour’s music you could shut the windows and have some peace but you might still hear a little bit of music. Therefore windows are a privilege to have in houses. Windows keep out the heat and cold.

Oxygen is important because It gets rid of the foul smells. When you open your windows, oxygen enters the house and makes the house feel refreshing. Do you agree that oxygen is important?

I trust that I have provided you with adequate  reasons as to why a house should have windows.

how animals survive in their natural habitat

Monday 4th april 2016
How animals survive in their natural habitat.

Have you ever wondered how animals survive in their natural habitat? I will provide you with adequate reasons as to how animals survive in their natural habitat.

Cheetahs are the fastest animal on the planet running at short distance.
Cheetahs are carnivores which means they only eat meat. If the cheetah was slow it will die why? because it won't be able to catch it's prey. The cheetah uses its speed to catch its prey. The cheetah can sense smell, hear and see everything. If you move or even make a noise you got to run for your life because there will be a cheetah on the way to come get its prey and its prey will be you. If you don't think so then try it, then you will know what l’m talking about. Have you seen a cheetah's body when it is running? It’s body opens wide with the two back legs spread back and front legs spread in front. The cheetah is tan with black spots all over it's body with long slim legs and it is silk. This is why the cheetah is adapted to it's natural habitat.

Do you know how birds adapt to their natural habitat? Well birds come in all sorts of sizes and shapes. Do you know how a peacock has a long tail that is hanging down that can flap up  and it has eye patterns. They could be small, big and even tiny like a sparrow. Birds need to migrate because they need to give birth for their young ones coming out. If they went to one place and that is too cold to raise their young ones, they will fly to a warmer place  and  raise their young ones in that warm place that they found. Have you seen a bird with a long beak well that's the bird that flies nearly touching the water and diving in the water only it's beak and it will come up eating a small fish. That could be a kingfisher.
Have you seen a colony of ants, and wander how they survive in their natural habitat. Ants work hard in the summer collecting food for their family and taking it to their home and share, not to think  about themselves like what some human beings do. By the time winter comes, they already got their food ready because in winter they can't go out and collect their food. It's too cold and they might die because it's too cold. The ants gives of smell and the other ants can smell where all the other ants go. They have adapted working together. If  you rub your finger in the middle you will notice that you have confused them and they will go in opposite ways.

I have explained to you how cheetahs, birds and ants have adapted in their natural habitat. I trust that you now have an idea as to how these animals survive.

I appreciate your effort Summah. You separated your ideas and asked rhetorical questions. Next time, talk about a sea animal like a shark or dolphin. Nga Mihi Matua Komal.

how food is digested

Thursday 8 september 2016

Have you ever wondered how food is digested? I will provide you with an explanation.

When food is placed in your mouth it is masticated by teeth and saliva. The food is moved to the back of you're mouth that's called the trapdoor or the oesophagus by the tongue.

The food then moves to the stomach and broken down  by digestive juices. the food is broken down into small pieces and moves to the small intestine, here the goodness soaked in.

The remainder of food then moves to the large intestine and the water gets taken out. The food needed by your body is for growth, transported by the blood and is used for growth, repair and energy.

Waste food is excreted out your anus.

narative writing.

Wednesday 15 June 2016.

In the year 2015, in a little town name Papakura, lived two enthusiastic people, a mum and a daughter . Their names were Emma and Kim. Kim was a very intelligent 13 year old and Ema was a helpful mum who loved to play and take Kim everywhere she wanted to go. Ema and Kim lived in a 2 bedroom house in a street named Royal Arch.

Emma and Kim decided to go to the pools for a girls day out. Ema said to Kim “ Kim you have to stay by me and swim so you don't drown and so I can watch you” “ okay” Kim replied”. Off they went. Kim let out a frustrating noise “YAHHH WHERE HERE!!”. They got out of the car and headed to the counter. The pools were called Massey Park. It looked very charming with lots of decorations on the building. “Hello” the lady said  “hello can I have 2 bands for the hydro slide please?” Ema responded “yup that is $5.50 cent” Ema gave the money and put their bands on and walked through. They got changed into their bright togs and gently walked to the pool.

Kim and Emma were having lots of fun. SPLASH, SPLASH,SPLASH!! the water went. There was a lot of people in the pool splashing and enjoying themselves. Emma and Kim got out of the pool and had a little snack. They had a tasty chicken sandwich and a chocolate fudge. They had a 30 minute break and went back in. An hour later, more and more people came. It was that crowded they couldn't even barely swim. Kim lost Emma so Kim decided to do the wrong thing and swim to the deep end. She saw a sign that read 3.0 meters warning: this section is deep be careful! but in she went.

“HELP HELP!!!!” Kim shouted to give a warning, no one  heard and louder she went and no one could still  hear her.  She said it one more time “HELP” Ema stood stunned in the shallow area away from Kim. She realised Kim was gone somewhere. She heard an echo shouting“HELP!!” “KIM! KIM! WHERE ARE YOU?” Kim couldn't answer because she was away from Ema and she was drowning. Emma dashed quickly out of the pool and ran to the office. “ HELP HELP MY DAUGHTER'S DROWNING I HEARD AN ECHO WHERE COULD THE DEEP AREA BE!!?” Emma worriedly asked. The life guards ran to the deep area and found Kim in the deep area struggling to swim. The lifeguard quickly dived in the deep area and grabbed Kim.  He quickly pushed her up and swam with her in his arms. They got her up on the vinyl area. They were getting in a position to get ready for cpr. A minute later before doing cpr,  her eyes opened. Mum scaredly said “ Kim I'm with you thank God!”. They gave Kim a sit up until the ambulance came just to check if she was alright. The ambulance came after 5 minutes and examined her .Everything was alright. They grabbed all their stuff and got changed.

Tiredly and worriedly Kim and Ema  headed home. It was 9.00 o'clock at night. Kim apologized to Emma and sadly said “Kim I told you to stay by me and you didn't listen. You disappointed me” “ I’m sorry I couldn't find you so I decided to swim on my own” “ Okay it’s alright just  ignore the past it has happened already”. They arrived home and went inside and went to bed.
